外食のリスク

In America, where
two of three adults are
already considered overweight
or obese,
a new wake-up call tonight.
A new list of restaurant dishes
that simply top the charts.

They are big sellers at
top food chains across the country
loaded with hidden fat, salt
and sugar.
This California Pizza Kitchen
Tostada Pizza
packs nearly 1,700 calories and
more than two days' worth of salt.
These two Bob Evans' hotcakes
have more calories and
saturated fat
than two country-fried steaks
and four eggs.

That's a day's worth of
saturated fat,
27 teaspoons of added sugar.

And how many teaspoons
are we supposed to have in a day?

That's like four days' worth.

But even the President has eaten
off this list.

原油流出の影響

05/25/10

All day long, the people of
the Gulf have told us
they want Americans
to remember this day
as the day they said,
"Enough is enough."

In Port Fourchon,
they are not dreading the oil,
they are knee-deep in it.
Teams of cleanup crews have
descended on the beach here
sopping up and bagging up
countless gallons of crude.
The Governor warns his entire
shore could look like this soon
if he doesn't get more help now.

We need more boom,
more skimmers, more vacuums,
more jack-up barges
that are still in short supply.
And let's be clear: Every day that
this oil sits and waits for cleanup
is one more day
that more of our marsh dies.
We've been frustrated
with the disjointed effort to date
that has too often meant
too little, too late
for the oil hitting our coast.

abcニュースシャワー"アフガニスタンのアヘン取り引き"

05/24/10

The Taliban finances much of
its operations by selling opium
grown from poppies, which are
now being harvested.
So, why are American troops
now helping the Afghan farmers
grow that opium?

This is controversial.
The opium trade is the Taliban's
main source of funding.

Around here this poppy isn't
only a plant,
it's the very basis of the economy
here.

If the US burn their crop,
farmers would blame the US
for their poverty
and turn toward the Taliban.

If we secure them
having a good harvest,
now they are gonna get paid
for all their hard work.
And then we can deal with
trafficking afterwards.

After farmers get paid,
try to capture drug traffickers.
These troops have confiscated
10,000 pounds of opium
before the profit reached
the Taliban.
