Fewer than four months
before the midterm elections,
some bad numbers
about a tough environment
for President Obama
and the Democrats.
In just one month,
President Obama has suffered
a seven-point drop
in the number of Americans
who approve of
his handling of the economy,
from 50% approval in June
to just 43% now.
And those economic numbers
are a big part of the reason
why the number of
Americans confident
President Obama will make
the right decisions
for this country's future
has plunged
from 61% a few days before
his inauguration
to a record-low 43% now.
Now, the numbers of approval
are worse for Republicans
but, perhaps paradoxically,
51% of those polled
would rather have
the Republicans run Congress
"to act as a check
on Obama's policies."
