 05/19/10

Rob Sandler was thrilled
to have a little boy.
But when he brought
the baby home from the hospital,
he was overcome
with another kind of emotion.
He says he felt anxious and
overwhelmed by responsibility.
Sandler had
post-partum depression.
About 10% of new fathers
suffer from it.
Sleep deprivation, stress
and isolation take their toll.

that you saw in parenting

The roles and expectations
of fathers in terms of involvement
have changed.

Unlike mothers who are more
likely to experience post-partum
right after birth,
fathers are most at risk
when child is
between three and six months old.
Rob Sandler got help.
Today he says he is finally
the father he hoped he'd be.
