Big news out of London, today.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown
went to Buckingham Palace
in full official caravan
and when he left minutes later,
he was no longer
the leader of the country.
His resignation ended
13 years of rule
by his Labour Party.
The new young Prime Minister,
David Cameron, 43 years old.
As tradition dictates,
David Cameron was summoned
to Buckingham Palace
and asked by the Queen
to form a government.
Just an hour earlier,
Gordon Brown took one final drive
as Prime Minister to the Palace
to resign.
Brown was Tony Blair's
political ally and successor
but lacked Blair's charisma
and popular touch.
