abcニュースシャワー"ガザの経済封鎖を緩和"

06/18/10

After the outcry because of the
Israeli commando confrontation
on that cargo ship last month,
the government of Israel
announced
the three-year-old land blockade
of Gaza will be eased.

This morning, the government of
Israel took decisions
to liberalize the system
under which civilian goods
may enter the Gaza Strip.

The blockade was imposed
three years ago
after Hamas took control.
And some of it
never made much sense.
For the last three years,
frozen meat allowed in,
fresh meat not.
Candles, yes,
toys and schoolbooks, no.
Israel says all of it
will be allowed in now.
Building materials have been
banned too,
leaving much of Gaza
looking like this.
Desperately needed cement and
steel were approved today
but only for UN projects.
