abcニュースシャワー"メキシコ湾にハリケーンのおそれ"

06/25/10

In the Gulf tonight,
now, a tropical hot spot:
a storm just developing,
so new it has no name.
But everyone involved in the spill
is watching the clot
because if it grows
and starts to move,
ships have to flee, the cap
on the oil well has to be lifted.

It's still unclear
where the system is heading
but were it to
form into a tropical storm,
it would be called Alex, the first
named storm of the season.
And these trajectories show
it could make a beeline
for the Gulf.
If it does, hundreds of miles
of boom could be wrecked.
And Diane, if that storm
does hit this area,
they would have to lift
all those ships.
And a roundtrip to
get them out into safety
and then back over to that spill
would take 10 days.
In that time,
up to 20 million gallons of oil
could spill again
into the Gulf of Mexico.
