One day after the crash
that's stunned a nation,
the President's body
arrived home today.
It was greeted by his daughter
and his twin brother,
the former prime minister,
who had visited the crash scene
overnight for the painful task
of identifying
his own twin's body.
The capital Warsaw gave
the victims a hero's welcome with
hundreds of thousands
lining the streets.
The entire nation came to
a standstill
for a moment of silence.
This tragedy has brought
forward
the worst nightmares
of our history.
Tonight, a sea of memorial candles
blanketed central Warsaw,
a glittering tribute
to Poland's profound loss.
